Press Release: World Leaders in PPP Convene in Abu Dhabi for Global Council Meeting

Geneva, 23rd of October 2023 – The Abu Dhabi PPP Forum, organized by the World Association of PPP Units & Professionals (WAPPP) in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), united prominent leaders of public-private partnerships (PPP) during the Global Council of PPP Unit Heads on October 18, 2023.

The Global Council convened PPP Units from all continents, who engaged in high-level discussions around the urgency of collective empowerment on the global PPP stage and the crucial role of PPP as a development catalyst, particularly in a world grappling with rising interest rates and intensifying climate change risks.

The Chair of the Global Council of PPP Unit Heads, Mr. Ziad-Alexandre Hayek, who also serves as the President of WAPPP, commented: « The global and senior-level nature of the Council ensures the diversity of experience and the wealth of and depth of expertise, which allow it to be influential on the international PPP scene and to emphasize the role of PPP as a tool for development. »

The Council of PPP Unit Heads underscored the unwavering commitment of the World Association of PPP Units & Professionals to foster collaboration and public-private partnerships as a tool for development and for achieving the UN SDGs.
